  • The Mendocino Ballet was formed in 1984 as a non-profit organization dedicated to providing educational and performance opportunities for the Ukiah, coastal, and surrounding communities. In 2001 the company decided to expand it's mission by forming a Classical Ballet based dance school to fill the need for professional quality dance instruction in the area.

Motor Sports

  • Located at the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds in Ukiah, California, the Ukiah Speedway is host to some of Northern California's most exciting racing action. They offer a tight outdoor Motocross track and a quarter-mile asphalt oval for stock car auto racing. They also offer one of the most popular "Outlaw Go-Kart" racing series in Northern California at the Lakeport Fairgrounds.

Museums

  • The Grace Hudson Museum in Ukiah, California, is an art, history and anthropology museum focusing on the lifeworks of artist Grace Carpenter Hudson (1865-1937) and her ethnologist husband, Dr. John W. Hudson (1857-1936). Changing interdisciplinary exhibitions and public programs feature Western American art, California Indian cultures, histories of California's diverse North Coast region, and the work of contemporary regional artists.

Parks & Recreation

  • Clear Lake State Park is on the shores of California’s largest freshwater lake. The area is popular for all kinds of water recreation, including swimming, fishing, boating and water-skiing.
  • Hendy Woods State Park features two virgin redwood groves; Big Hendy with a self-guided discovery trail and Little Hendy. The Navarro River runs the length of the park.
  • Lake Mendocino is set amongst the rolling hills and oak groves of Mendocino county near the headwaters of the picturesque Russian River, one of the cleanest rivers in the country.
  • The purpose of Mailliard Redwoods State Natural Reserve, in Mendocino County, is to preserve and protect, in an essentially natural condition, the coast redwood forest and associated wildlife habitat which occurs along the Garcia River and adjacent watersheds.
  • The Mendocino National Forest straddles the eastern spur of the Coastal Mountain Range in northwestern California, just a three hour drive north of San Francisco and Sacramento. Some 65 miles long and 35 miles across, the Forest's 913,306 federally owned acres of mountains and canyons offer a variety of recreational opportunities - camping, hiking, backpacking, boating, fishing, hunting, nature study, photography, and off-highway vehicle travel.
